Numbers to 20

I am learning to recognise numbers to 20.  I can stand on the large number line when the number is called out.  I am also learning the before and after numbers.

"I can walk to 20 and I can go backwards." said Sebastian

Phonics

We are learning to listen and record the sounds we can hear.  We are able to blend the sounds altogether.  We can use our phonics at Story writing and Reading time to help us.

" I can write words by myself because we robot them at Story writing, Phonics and Reading" said Sebastian

Making Pizza

We made pizza as a class, using ingredients that we had grown ourselves. 

These photos show the writing process. We started with the 'draft stage', where students try to use the skills they have been taught. After 'conferencing' with the teacher and 'editing', they produce the 'published work' for their audience to enjoy.

" I can do lots of sentences and full stops in the right place." said Sebastian

Paper bear

We learnt how to draw a teddy bear looking at the different shapes that make up the head and arms. We wrote about our bear and published it onto a paper bag.

Cats

I have been learning how to draw a cat.  I can mix colours together and I can also use charcoal to show shading.

Before and after numbers

I am learning to say the number that comes before and after to 10.  I am placing the peg on the correct answer.

Deep in the compost bin!

As part of our inquiry we have been looking at creatures that dwell in the darkness of our compost bins.

After we observed and handled these creatures, watched video clips and read books about them; we wrote these fabulous stories.

Part of the writing process is presenting our finished work in a way the captures our readers attention. We hope you enjoy viewing our quality work!

Beginning sounds

I am learning to make the first sound in words I do not know.  I can also robot some of the words.

Student lead conferences

Here you are sharing your learning with your Mum and Dad at your Student Lead Conference. This was a great chance to celebrate the progress you have made so far this year.

Maths

I am learning to recognise the numbers 7,8,9,10.  I am learning to count the right amount of counters for each number.

Sebastian said," We are learning numbers and counting. You have to count the things and get the right number. Sometimes you have to keep counting "

Reading

I am learning to use the illustrations to help me work out what is happening in the story.

Sebastian says," I can read the words because I look at the pictures. The pictures help you get a clue. It helps you know about the story."

Scooter day

We are learning to keep ourselves safe when we are on a scooter.

Story writing

I am learning to write my story by myself.  I can use my word card and my sounds to help me write the words.

Sebastian said " I can do finger spaces and look at the capital letters at the start of my sentence."

Self Portrait

I am learning to draw a self portrait.  I am able to put all the features in the correct place.

Swimming

I am learning to get in the pool safely.  I am gaining confidence to put my head under the water.
